Sometimes, even when we understand what happened to us, our bodies and emotions continue to respond as though the experience is still happening.
Trauma and Brainspotting counselling can help you explore these responses, process difficult experiences, and begin to feel more grounded.
My approach is compassionate, collaborative, and guided by curiosity rather than criticism. We work at a pace that feels right for you.
Trauma isn't always about one significant event. Repeated stress, difficult relationships, or experiences that leave us feeling unsafe can also affect how we think, feel, and respond.
Brainspotting is a therapeutic approach that uses eye position and focused attention to help process difficult experiences and the emotional and physical responses connected to them.
Our work together is collaborative, compassionate, and paced with your needs in mind. You don't have to find the perfect words or revisit every detail of your experiences to begin healing.
Brainspotting can be difficult to explain in words alone. This short video introduces the approach and how it may help people process difficult experiences.
We begin by talking about what brings you to counselling and what you'd like to work through. There's no pressure to share more than you're comfortable with.
Using a pointer, we'll explore different eye positions while you notice what's happening in your body. Together, we'll identify a position connected to what you're working on.
You may notice emotions, memories, thoughts, or physical sensations. There's no right or wrong way to experience Brainspotting, and you don't have to explain everything you're noticing.
Sometimes our experiences are difficult to put into words. Brainspotting allows us to work with what you're experiencing without needing to talk through every detail.
Throughout the process, I'll help you stay grounded and supported. We can slow down, pause, or adjust our approach whenever needed.
We finish by checking in with how you're feeling and helping you transition back into your day. Processing can continue between sessions, and we'll revisit anything important together.
You don't have to have everything figured out before beginning. If you're curious about whether Brainspotting might be right for you, we can explore that together.
